Called to Conquer Pt.1
Romans 8:37-39. Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Trickle Up Theory
Year 2010: Nigeria and Jubilee
400,000-500,000 newly unemployed, month to month to month for the last few years. Add to this the number of under employed and those who have fallen off the roles completely and you have somewhere around 15,000,000 people unemployed in this land of opportunity. Add to this the approximately 1.5 million who are homeless. Factor in an additional 10-20,000,000 million illegal "visitors" from our neighbor to the South and we've got a big problem right here in River City.
Often times I have asked myself this question whether my country Nigeria would be able to sign up if there was a programme that would guarantee a trouble-free life. Seeing that Nigeria has suffered so much from many things like religion, ethnicity, economic failure due to mismanagement, leadership problem, etc, a trouble-free scheme would actually be a lifeline. It is really bad news that there is not even a "get-out-of-trouble-quickly" scheme, let alone a guarantee to a "trouble-free" lifetime.
The Year of Jubilee and Today's Economic Recession
Did you know that economic recession is actually ordered in the Bible? Every 49 years the people of Israel were ordered to celebrate a year of Jubilee, where the land would lie fallow and all property would be returned to its original owner. This year and the following year there would be no new crops, so the people were required to prepare. Imagine: Every 50 years they Israelites knew there was going to be an economic recession.
The Bible's Fractal Time Code
If you've read the Bible, then you've probably stumbled across these curiosities and wondered, "Why are they there?" I am referring to the quirky little time patterns that pop up with a frequency that makes them impossible to ignore. For example, there is the forty-day time pattern:
